Ainhoa Abreu Diaz – Associate Director

Ainhoa is an experienced Project Architect with a strong track record in leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex, high-profile projects. Her strength lies in design coordination, technical rigour and stakeholder management across all project stages. She joined RSHP working on the detailed design of 3 World Trade Center, before coordinating the design of the public realm and a residential building at NEO Bankside. She then led delivery of Buildings 6 and 7 at the award-winning Chiswick Park business park in west London.

Ainhoa later focused on early design stages, working closely with Graham Stirk on competitions, feasibility studies and planning applications. During this period, she contributed to projects including Burlington Gate, Merano and Bromley-by-Bow in London, No.33 Park Row in New York, and the Aile Est at Geneva Airport. She co-led the British Library Extension through competition and pre-planning stages, helping shape the project’s strategic vision. Returning to delivery, she specialised in projects requiring complex stakeholder engagement. She led the detailed design of the LSE Centre Building, working closely with the LSE Estates team and Mace to coordinate demanding academic, technical and urban requirements.

Between 2021 and 2023, Ainhoa relocated to Melbourne to oversee delivery of the Metro Tunnel Project, which opened in 2025. The scheme includes twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations. She spent 18 months onsite leading the front-of-house fit-out in collaboration with Hassell, Weston Williamson and a wide stakeholder team. After returning to the UK, she worked on the competition-winning 600,000m² terminal at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. Ainhoa is currently leading early viability studies for rail and underground stations. In addition to her design work, Ainhoa is an active member and former lead of RSHP’s Sustainability Group, advocating cross-industry collaboration to address the twin climate and biodiversity crises. She is committed to creating architecture and urbanism.
